How to make your blog better

  1. Include at least one picture. Make it entertaining! Unsurprisingly, readers tend to stay more focused to topics with a lot of images and text features. This is not only for blogs, but also for other genres like non-fiction, persuasive/opinion, etc.
  2. Spread an idea - Make sure that the reader actually takes something away. However, don’t take my word for it. You should include just one idea. Don’t make it complex. Think about your audience. Is it really worth sharing? If not, you probably shouldn’t do it.
  3. Read your comments - See what other people say! They might have some tips for your next blog. They might also say that you did something well or they liked one part of your blog.
  4. Variety is important! Try a lot of different styles, such as vlogs, how to, persuasive, etc. If you try a variety, you make your blog a lot more entertaining.
  5. Organization - Last but not least, being organized! Try adding labels to your posts so that every post falls into a certain category. Try adding a theme that is relevant to your topic, e.g., mine is cyberbullying, so I chose a digital-like theme.

Now that you’ve learnt this, go edit your post and make it an amazing one that everyone wants to see!

Some Useful Things

What things I found useful during Exhibition was Grammarly.  It can help you by checking your text and punctuation. Some other things that were useful in our learning of Exhibition are some websites like this site. This website was helpful because I broke up my question and one of those questions were how is the Singapore government trying to prevent cyberbullying.

Other websites that were useful was safe search engines like Kidrex for example. Some more is like Adblock. Adblock is an extension that is helpful by getting rid of an ad or even a thousand ads! Some other things that helped me were note everywhere it is an application where you can write anywhere.

Some other things I found useful was interviews. We interviewed several people like Ms.Crew, Mr.Wilcox, and even Ms.Beasley! Some more things I found useful were surveys we sent out two surveys one for the teachers from Grade 5 and 4 and one more survey for the students in Grade 5 and 4.

In conclusion, there are many things that are useful that can help.

Knowledge from Mr. Wilcox

After doing an interview with Mr. Wilcox, he taught us the difference between cyberbullying and cyber meanness. He said that we should go through 3 “filters” to check if it is actually bullying.

  1. Is it intentional? If it is cyber bullying, it has to be deliberate, meaning it was done on purpose and they meant to hurt the cyberbullying victim. Mr. Wilcox described how at our school, most people who hurt others online did not meant to do it on purpose.
  2. Is it constant? The term ‘bullying’ means that it has to be constant, which means the cyber bully must keep doing it for it to be actual cyberbullying. This makes it even rarer in our school, since after their first warning, they will almost always stop immediately. However, there may be more cyberbullying, it is just that some people may not report it.
  3. What is the advantage in power? By that, I mean where one person (the bully) has more power than another (victim). For example, if you are in the playground (as a grade 3), and a grade 7 bullies you, clearly the grade 7 has more “power” than you. For cyber bullying, the bully’s power is being anonymous.

Now that you have learnt some valuable information, start looking. Can you see any examples of cyberbullying anywhere? If so, how will you deal with it?

My question, is, does cyber bullying happen in our school?
Some things that I have done to answer, or work toward this question, is that we sent a survey, to the students, in grade 5, and 4, we didn't send it to the grades below grade 4, because they might not know what cyberbullying is, and some of the questions in the survey are required. Some pose questions for this I think, are have you cyberbullied, and have you been cyberbullied.
We also sent another survey, to the teachers, because they might know more, as the students can come and talk to them, however, if they saw the survey they might be too embarrassed to admit it, whereas I think that teachers might be more honest.
Thinking about Miso, (Media, Interview, Survey, Observation) I think that the two that I can use most to my advantage, is interview and survey, because, media you can't find any cyber bullying on the web, in specifically our school, when there are a lot more other schools in the world. Observation might not be very useful, because other than yourself, cyberbullying doesn't happen often, and like I said before, if you don't get cyber bullied, observation has not purpose.

Overall, I think that students in our school have cyber bullied, and also been bullied, but there might be more that experienced it, than did it.

How to stay safe in the internet

Many people think that the internet is a place to have fun, joke around and play with friends. Although that it true, most internet users don't know that it is just as important to stay safe. Here are a few tips to stay out of trouble.

  1. Zip it - Keep your identity hidden and never reveal your private info to anyone else, e.g., age, where you live, etc. If you do, there is a high chance that hackers or whatnot would cause harm to you. Meeting up with someone is just as or even more dangerous as sharing personal information.
  2. Block it - Never get influenced by nasty things people may send to you. Remember to just block the sender and just ignore it, as the sender could send more inappropriate stuff to you and just harass you more. You can also just say that the message is hurting you, as lost of cyber bullies don’t even know that they are cyber bullying! This may however, not work.
  3. Flag it - When you receive/find out about something you can’t handle, report the sender or tell an adult/supervisor and let them deal with the situation. It is just good to stay out of it and pretend that nothing happened.
  4. Think about it - Never trust any anonymous people that you may not know of. If you think that this person is not being a responsible internet citizens, follow the three rules as shown above. Please think before you send!

My skills and qualities

During our time in exhibition, we set goals from the schools skills and qualities these are the ones I chose: Communicator I share my ideas confidently, Self-manager I will be organized with my work and collaborator I will listen carefully to everyone's ideas during discussions. So far I think I am doing well.

My groups collaboration

So far my group has been collaborating well and I think it's because our group is a group that can work together, and we are passionate about our topic. Sometimes we would get distracted but then we would suddenly get over it afterward. I am enjoying my group's collaboration because we can all understand each other and we are slowly starting to get to know each other better. Our group is one of the most collaborative in our class and that is a good thing so I'm proud of it.

Me and my group in Exhibition

I think that I am learning a lot of new things as I take notes, read text and search websites. I work together with my group to accomplish things, but we sometimes take on as separate role and synthesise/put together what we found. Sometimes that is challenging, since some people may forget. Therefore, we each have to be responsible, otherwise we may fall apart.

My group collaborates quite well, since when we work together, we get things done more effectively. However there is room for improvement since some people can get distracted. Some members might also give people less “air-time”. Something we are good at is including everyone’s ideas, even though some people may talk more than others.

Tips To Organise your work

Our group has had a very disorganised week so notes, research and many other things went missing so our group created ways to have an organised environment to store our learning

1. Make a Table
Tables are a great way to store your thinking as you can keep them in columns and rows putting titles and subtitles which make organising a ton easier.

2. Keep notes in a special place
keeping notes in a special place makes it easier to find your notes our group has made notes but some have disappeared and we lost them. Keeping them in like a folder or a little pouch makes things easier when summarising everything

3. Folders
When on a google drive consider keeping things in a folder as it makes thing easier to find. For example putting reading things in a folder and putting exhibition things in another folder makes documents, research and presentations easier to find

4. Set each group member there individual task.
Setting group members individual tasks makes everyone doing something for example if everyone does the same thing you won't get much done as people will probably pick up the same information.

5. Be organised
After reading all these tips just be organised. whether it's with work or your desk. keeping a neet and tidy table makes things easier to find. keeping your bag neat makes finding things easier without taking everything out and making a mess.
How we are working towards our Skills and Qualities

Skills and qualities are very important, as they make your group successful. 
A skill that we are all mostly showing, is collaborative, we are all listening to each others ideas, and valuing each others ideas.
A Skill that we could work on is critical thinker: Identifying and discussing different perspectives, I don't think we do this, because we forget sometimes, and don't really make the effort to do it.

A quality, that we are showing is, being fair when making decisions, (Principled) because when we are choosing for people to do something, we thnk about who did what the time before, etc.
A quality we could work on, is seeking help when we need it, because sometimes, we just keep things to ourselves, and try to do it by ourselves.
